What is a bulking factor?

Excavated soil usually occupies more volume after it is disturbed. A bulking factor estimates the loose volume for haulage or temporary stockpiles.

Can this calculator determine a safe excavation slope?

No. Safe slopes and support systems depend on ground conditions, depth, water, adjacent loads, and local requirements. Use an approved excavation design.
