Definition

A quality-control plan that defines inspection stages, tests, acceptance criteria, responsibilities, records, and witness or hold points for a work activity.

What it means on a project

The practical reading, without treating one region's contract language as universal.

An ITP connects specification requirements to the checks and records needed to demonstrate conformity.

Hold points require formal release before work continues; witness points allow the notified party to observe the activity.

Terminology, contractual effect, and regulatory requirements vary by jurisdiction and contract. Confirm the definition used on your project before relying on this glossary entry.
