What belongs in a daily report
A daily report — also called a DPR (daily progress report) or site diary — is filed by whoever is running the shift, usually a site engineer or foreman, before they leave site. It exists to answer one question weeks or months later: what actually happened on this date. Manpower and plant counts, work performed, and anything that stopped work belong here in the moment, not reconstructed from memory the next morning.
Keep entries factual and specific: which trade, which area, how many hours lost and why. A daily report that only says work continued as planned is not a record anyone can use to settle a delay claim or answer a client's question about a particular date.
