Questions
What makes a good construction RFI?
A good RFI asks one precise question, cites the relevant drawings or specifications, explains the issue and potential impact, and states when a response is needed.
Is an RFI the same as a variation order?
No. An RFI requests clarification. A response may identify a change, but commercial authorization should follow the project's separate change-control process.
Is this a request for inspection?
No. This form is a request for information: a question to the designer or consultant. On many sites "RFI" also means a request for inspection, where the contractor asks for work to be inspected before it is covered up. That is a different form, with its own free builder.
