Dashboard — Overview
Two dashboards — one across every project in your organisation, one for a single project — built from widgets you arrange and save as named views.
A dashboard is where you find out how things stand without opening anything. PleoStack gives you two of them: a Portfolio Dashboard across every project in your organisation, and a Dashboard inside each project. Both are built the same way — a grid of widgets you can add, move, resize and save as a named view.
The Two Dashboards
| Dashboard | How to open it | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Portfolio Dashboard | Click Portfolio Dashboard in the sidebar. It is also where you land when you sign in and when you switch organisation. | Every project in the organisation — active project counts, completion, overdue work, approvals, material spend, manpower and safety. |
| Dashboard | Open a project, then click Dashboard in the sidebar. | One project — its work items, issues, permits, toolbox talks and walk findings. |
The two have separate widget catalogues and separate views. A layout you build on one does not appear on the other.
What a Dashboard Is Made Of
- A view — a named, saved layout. You can have as many as you like, and switch between them from the toolbar.
- Widgets — 34 in total: 16 on the Portfolio Dashboard and 19 on a project Dashboard. Each one is a KPI tile, a chart or a list.
- A four-column grid. KPI tiles take one cell; charts and lists start at two cells wide by two tall and can be stretched.
Where the numbers come from
Each widget reads from its own module — projects, work items, issues, inspections, approvals, materials, daily logs and safety. Everything loads fresh when you open the page; the Recent Activity feed refreshes on its own about once a minute. Dashboards need a connection.
Shared and Personal Views
Every view is one of three kinds, and that decides who can see it and who can change it.
| Kind | Who can see it | Who can change it |
|---|---|---|
| Seeded layout — the layouts your organisation started with | Everyone the layout was built for | An organisation admin (Project Owner or Project Manager) |
| Shared view — published by an admin | Everyone in the organisation | An organisation admin |
| Personal view — one you made | Only you | Only you |
Views that are shared with the organisation are marked with a people glyph in the switcher, so you can tell before you go looking for an Edit button that isn't there.
Duplicate is the way in
You can't edit a shared dashboard unless you're an admin — but Duplicate is open to everyone, on every view you can see. Duplicating always gives you a personal copy that is yours to rearrange.
What You Can Do
| Action | Who |
|---|---|
| Switch between the views you can see | Everyone |
| Duplicate any view into a personal copy | Everyone |
| New Dashboard — create a personal view | Everyone |
| Edit, rearrange and save a view you own | Everyone, on their own views |
| Set as Default — choose which view opens first | Whoever can edit that view |
| Reset to Default — put a seeded layout, or a copy of one, back how it started | Whoever can edit that view. A view made with New Dashboard has no default, so it has no Reset |
| Delete a view | Whoever can edit it — never a seeded layout |
| New Shared Dashboard — publish a view for the whole organisation | An organisation admin |
Controls you can't use aren't shown
PleoStack hides actions you don't have the authority for rather than greying them out. If you are looking at a shared dashboard as a site role, you will see Duplicate and nothing else in the actions menu — that is expected, not a fault.
A Note on the Safety Widgets
Six of the project widgets — Open Permits, Toolbox Talks This Week, Open Walk Findings, Safety Severity Breakdown, Permits Expiring Soon and Safety Incident Trend — read from the Safety module, which is in beta.
Next Steps
- Getting Started — open a dashboard, make one of your own, add widgets and save it
- Widgets — every widget on both dashboards, what it counts and how it resizes
- Views — shared vs personal, defaults, duplicating, resetting and deleting
Questions
If I change a project's Dashboard, does it change on my other projects?
Yes. A Dashboard view is kept for your whole organisation, not for one project. The same layout opens on every project, each showing that project's own numbers.
Can I share my own dashboard with a colleague?
Not directly. A dashboard you made is visible only to you. Someone whose role can manage the organisation can publish one for everyone with New Shared Dashboard, and your colleague can then Duplicate it.
Can I use dashboards on my phone?
Yes, in your phone's browser. The widgets stack to fit the screen. You can add and remove widgets there, but moving or resizing them only saves on a full-size window.
Not a user yet? The Dashboard feature page shows the module in context, and where to book a demo.
