Creating Inspections

Step-by-step guide through the 3-step creation wizard — source selection, details & scope, and party assignments.

Creating an inspection is a 3-step wizard that takes you from choosing a template to assigning parties. The inspection is ready to execute immediately after creation.

Step 1 — choose from collections or individual checklists

Step 1 — Choose Source

Select what checklist(s) the inspection will use:

Source TypeWhen to Use
From CollectionMulti-part inspections — a collection groups related checklists (e.g., "Concrete Pre-Pour" includes Reinforcement + Formwork + Safety)
From ChecklistSingle-focus inspections — one specific checklist for a targeted check

Each collection has a category badge: Concrete, Steel, MEP, Safety, Closeout, or Custom.

Step 2 — Details & Scope

Configure what's being inspected:

FieldRequiredDescription
NameNoAuto-fills from collection/checklist name. Customize if needed.
LocationNoFree text for site location (e.g., "Tower A, Level 3, Column Grid B2-B5")
ScopeYesWhat's being inspected — choose one:

Scope options:

  • WBS-linked — select items from your project's WBS tree. Creates traceability between the inspection and the work being done.
  • Standalone — enter a custom label and notes. Use for inspections not tied to specific WBS items.

You can add multiple scope items to a single inspection.

Step 3 — Party Assignments

Assign team members to the review workflow:

Step 3 — assign team members to each party role
RoleWhoWhat They Do
PerformerField inspectorRecords Pass/Fail/NA verdicts on each item
CheckerFirst reviewerReviews performer's work, agrees or disagrees
ApproverFinal authorityMakes the accept/reject decision

All Roles Required

All party slots must have a team member assigned before the inspection can start. You can assign them now or update later from the hub's row actions.

Single-party mode: If only one person is handling the inspection, select the same member for all roles. The workflow still follows the sequential steps but one person handles all three.

The inspection appears in the hub as Not Started. The Performer can click it to open the detail page and begin recording verdicts.
