Inventory — Overview

What the Inventory tab does — live stock, consumption against budget and cost — and what you see when you open it.

The Inventory tab gives you a real-time view of every material on your project — current stock levels, consumption against budget, and total cost tracking. Stock updates automatically as deliveries and usage are logged.

What You See

When you open the Inventory tab, you see a table of all materials added to your project, grouped by category:

ColumnWhat It Shows

Key Things to Notice

  • Progress bars on the Consumed column show how much of your planned quantity has been used
  • Out of Stock is shown on a material's detail page once its current stock reaches zero
  • Materials are only available for inventory if they've been approved through Material Submittals — this ensures every material on your project has proper documentation
  • Actions menu (⋯) on each row gives you quick access to Edit Budget, Adjust Stock, Log Usage, and Delete

How Stock Works

Stock is calculated automatically:

Stock Formula

Current Stock = Total Delivered − Total Consumed ± Manual Adjustments

Logging a delivery adds its quantity to Total Delivered and to Current Stock as the record is saved.

Stock vs. Consumed — Two Different Metrics

  • Stock = How much material you currently have on-site
  • Consumed = How much of your planned quantity has been used, shown as a percentage

A material can have high stock but also high consumption if you've received large deliveries. The Consumed bar tracks your progress through the budget, not remaining stock.

Stock and Budget Indicators

Both of these appear on a material's detail page:

IndicatorWhen It AppearsWhat It Means
Out of StockCurrent stock is exactly zeroNothing of this material is on site
Over budget by ₹XTotal delivery cost > budget rate × planned quantityCosts have passed your plan, by the amount shown

On the inventory table itself, a Stock of zero shows in red, and the Out of stock tab above the table lists every material that has run out.

Questions

What do the Out of stock and Unused tabs show?

Out of stock lists materials with a stock of zero or less. Unused lists materials with no usage logged yet, even if deliveries have arrived. All shows everything.

Why doesn't Total Cost match Rate × Stock?

Total Cost adds up what each delivery cost, at the unit cost entered on that delivery, flagged deliveries included. Rate is your budget rate. Usage and stock adjustments never change the cost. A material's page puts budget and actual side by side.

Can I delete several materials at once?

Yes. Tick their rows and press Delete in the bar that appears. You're asked to confirm first. Only materials with nothing recorded against them are deleted. Any with deliveries, usage, adjustments or QC tests stay, and a message says how many failed and why.
