Requirement Tags

What the small tags under each checklist item mean, the grey, green and red states, the "+N" pill, the red Add details pill and the red ring.

Under every checklist item sits one line of small tags. They tell you what the item asks for before you answer, and what it still needs after you answer. The line is the same in the browser and in the mobile app.

The three states

A tag for something you give (a photo, a reading, a test result) is in one of three states:

StateLooks likeMeans
NeededGreyThe item asks for this, and you have not given it yet. Nothing is wrong
DoneGreen, with a tickYou have given it
OwedRedYou have answered the item, and it cannot be submitted without this

A tag only turns red once the item has an answer. Before that, everything it asks for is grey.

The tags

Tags always appear in the same order:

TagWhen it shows
Failed last round (red)Only on a reinspection, on an item that failed the round before
Critical (red), Major (amber), Minor (grey)The item's severity. An observation shows no severity tag
Photo, Document, Signature or EvidenceThe item needs evidence of that kind on any answer. It also appears when you fail an item and your project requires evidence on every failure
The spec, such as "25–40 mm"The item is measured. The tag shows the spec until you enter a reading, then shows your reading
TestThe item needs a test result
Reference, such as "IS 456 cl. 26.4"The standard the item is checked against. Its full text is in the item's long-text sheet

Severity, Failed last round and Reference describe the item. They never change state.

When the tags do not fit

The tags stay on one line. Whatever does not fit folds into a pill such as +2. Tap it to open the item's long-text sheet: the full question, every requirement, what to check and the reference.

Add details and the red ring

The control at the end of the line opens the item's details: its note, photos and reading. When an answered item owes something (a note on a failure, a photo, a reading, a test result), three things happen together:

  • the owed tag turns red
  • the control becomes a red Add details pill, which opens the item's details to add what is missing
  • the item's card gets a red border and a soft red ring

All three clear as soon as you add the last thing the item owes. The footer also counts how many items need details, and in the mobile app, tapping Submit while an item owes something takes you to the first ringed item and says what it needs.
