Inspection Execution — Overview
What the inspection detail page looks like and how to record verdicts, attach evidence, and submit for review.
The Inspection Detail page is where field work happens. You go through each checklist item, record a verdict, attach evidence if needed, and submit your results for the next party to review.
Page Layout
The detail page has three main areas:
| Area | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Top bar | Inspection name, status badge and progress bar. The submit button sits in the action bar at the bottom of the checklist |
| Main content | Checklist items in a table (desktop) or card view (mobile) with verdict buttons |
| Info panel | Right sidebar with metadata — location, scope, parties, dates, verdict summary and linked issues |
What You See Depends on Your Role
| Role | View |
|---|---|
| Performer (active) | Verdict buttons on each item — Pass ✓, Fail ✗, N/A —. Can record results and attach evidence. |
| Checker/Approver (active) | Prior party's verdicts visible alongside your own verdict buttons. You're reviewing their work. |
| Not your turn | Read-only view. You can see existing verdicts but can't change anything until the workflow reaches your step. |
| Completed | Comparison table showing all parties' verdicts side by side, under a Pass outcome banner. |
Ready State (Not Started)
When a Performer first opens an inspection that hasn't been started:
- A preview of checklist items is shown (read-only)
- Click Begin Inspection to start — status changes to In Progress
- Verdict buttons appear and you can begin recording
Recording Verdicts
Each checklist item has three verdict options:
| Verdict | Symbol | Color | Notes Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pass | ✓ | Green | Optional |
| Fail | ✗ | Red | Mandatory — explain the failure |
| N/A | — | Gray | Optional |
Click the verdict button on the item row. To change a verdict, click a different button — the previous selection is replaced.
Item Detail Sheet
Click an item label to open the detail sheet (side drawer). The verdict itself is recorded on the item row — the sheet has no verdict buttons; its title shows the item's current verdict as a badge. The sheet carries:
- Notes — optional observations; on a failed item this becomes a required Remark
- Measurement — only on an item authored to need a reading; the verdict won't save until it's entered
- Evidence — photos from the camera or gallery
- GPS Location — the position that will be recorded with the verdict, when the device gives one
- Auto-create issue — appears only once the item has failed: a switch that creates a quality issue for the failure when you submit. It starts off for the Performer; for a Checker or Approver its starting position follows the project's inspection policy
- Review History and Issues tabs — shown when earlier parties have recorded verdicts on the item, or issues are linked to it
The save button reads Save Details, or Confirm Failure on a failed item.
Evidence
Attach photos to any checklist item:
- Open the item's detail sheet — click the item, or its Remarks button (Edit once the item has a verdict) — and go to Evidence
- Take a photo or select from gallery
- GPS coordinates are auto-captured from your device
- Up to five photos can be attached per item
Evidence Policy
When "Require Evidence on Fail" policy is enabled, at least one photo is mandatory for every failed item. The submission will block until evidence is provided.
Submission
When all items have verdicts:
- Click the submit button for your step — Complete Inspection on a single-party run, Submit for Review as the Performer, Approve & Forward as a Checker, Approve Inspection as the final Approver. If you have failed any item, the button relabels itself (Forward with Failures, Submit Review (Failed)) — there is no separate Reject action.
- A confirmation dialog shows the verdict summary and any validation warnings
- Confirm → the inspection advances to the next party
Validation requirements:
- All items must have a verdict
- Failed items must have notes
- Failed items must have evidence (when policy requires it)
After submission, your verdicts become read-only and the next party is notified.
Cancelling an Inspection
An inspection that is no longer needed can be cancelled with Cancel Inspection at the top of the page, then confirmed. The button shows for the project owner, the person who created the inspection and anyone assigned a party on it, and only until the inspection is completed; a completed inspection can't be cancelled.
A cancelled inspection stays in the list with the Cancelled status and its audit trail, and nothing more can be recorded on it. Issues raised from it are released: once Fixed, they can be closed without waiting for a reinspection.
Mobile View
On phones the detail page always uses the card layout — one card per item, with the verdict buttons and the remarks button on the card. The List / Cards switcher is a desktop control and is hidden at phone width.

Questions
Are my verdicts saved as I go?
They're kept in this browser on this device until you submit. Close the tab and reopen the inspection on the same device, and your unsent verdicts come back. Nobody else sees them, and they don't reach the server until you press the submit button. On another device you start again.
Can I use it with no signal?
It's a web app in your phone's browser, and it needs a connection to save your work. Submitting sends every verdict, so do it where you have signal.
Why can't I press the verdict buttons?
It isn't your turn. On a multi-party inspection only the person in the current party slot can record verdicts, even the project owner. The banner and the Status column say whose turn it is.
Who can cancel an inspection?
The project owner, the person who created it, and anyone assigned a party on it, for as long as it isn't completed. Others don't see Cancel Inspection. A completed inspection can't be cancelled, but it can be reinspected.
