Creating Inspections

Step-by-step guide through the 3-step creation wizard — source selection, details & scope, and party assignments.

Creating an inspection is a 3-step wizard that takes you from choosing a template to assigning parties. The inspection is ready to execute immediately after creation.

Step 1 — choose from collections or individual checklists

Step 1 — Choose Source

Select what checklist(s) the inspection will use:

Source TypeWhen to Use
From CollectionMulti-part inspections — a collection groups related checklists (e.g., "Concrete Pre-Pour" includes Reinforcement + Formwork + Safety)
From ChecklistSingle-focus inspections — one specific checklist for a targeted check

Individual checklists carry a category badge — Concrete, Steel, MEP, Safety or Closeout for the ones the app labels, and whatever was typed for anything else.

Step 2 — Details & Scope

Configure what's being inspected:

FieldRequiredDescription
NameYesType a name — the step will not advance without one.
LocationNoFree text for site location (e.g., "Tower A, Level 3, Column Grid B2-B5")
ScopeNoAdd one or more WBS Items, or a Custom Item — a label such as a pillar or zone, with an optional location. Leave it empty for a standalone inspection. Starting from a WBS item's page in the WBS fills in the scope and the name for you.
Details and scope: a name is required, location and scope are optional

Step 3 — Party Assignments

Assign team members to the review workflow:

Step 3 — assign team members to each party role
RoleWhoWhat They Do
PerformerField inspectorRecords Pass/Fail/NA verdicts on each item
CheckerFirst reviewerReviews performer's work, agrees or disagrees
ApproverFinal authorityMakes the accept/reject decision

All Roles Required

All party slots must have a team member assigned before the inspection can be created — there is no way to fill them in later. Each party must also be a different person.

Single-party mode: If only one person is handling the inspection, remove the Checker and Approver rows so a single party remains, then assign that person. The inspection is then created as single-party, with one Complete Inspection step instead of a review chain. Assigning the same person to more than one party is rejected.

After Creation

The inspection appears in the hub as Not Started. The Performer can click it to open the detail page and begin recording verdicts.

Questions

Can I add or remove checklist items once the inspection is created?

No. The inspection takes a copy of the checklist items when you create it. To change what gets checked, edit the template and create a new inspection from it.

If someone edits the template later, does my inspection change?

No. Your inspection keeps the items it was created with. Later edits only reach inspections created after them.

Why can’t I press Create Inspection?

A party slot is empty, or the same person is in two slots. The message under the parties says which. Each party must be a different person. For a solo inspection, remove the Checker and Approver rows instead.
