Branding & Photos

The cover, logos and authors on a client report, and how photographs — including before and after pairs — are added.

Two things make a client report look like it came from your company rather than out of a system: the cover, and the photographs. Both are set inside the composer.

Cover & Branding

The branding editor sits at the top of the composer, above the section list. Most of it is filled in for you when the report is created — from the project's own name, code, client and address — so you are usually confirming rather than typing.

Branding saves itself

There is no save button on the branding editor — changes are written automatically a moment after you stop typing. The Save Draft button in the toolbar is for the sections, not the cover.

Photographs

Photos live inside the Photos & Progress section, which offers up to five sub-sections depending on the detail level:

1

Open a photo sub-section

Each one has its own photo manager. Files are uploaded to the report itself. Once a report is sent, its photos cannot be added to, deleted or re-captioned. A draft made with Revise starts with the sent report's photos; those stay as the client received them, so add new ones rather than editing them.

Each photo sub-section opens to its own layout settings and photo manager
2

Upload and describe

Each photograph takes a Caption, a Label — the zone, activity or subject — and a Photo date. The date can only fall inside the report's period, so a photo cannot be dated outside the window it is reporting on.

Each photo gets a caption, a label and a date inside the report period before it uploads
3

Build before-and-after pairs

Progress Photos works differently: each entry is a pair with a label and two slots, Before and After, each with its own date. This is the section clients read first — one pour, one elevation, one fit-out, shown twice.

A progress comparison: one label, a Before and an After, each with its own date

Fewer, better

A client report is not an album. Three or four well-captioned photographs per section carry more than twenty untitled ones, and the captions are what get quoted back to you in the meeting.

What the Finished Document Looks Like

Preview — the cover, then the numbered sections in the order you set

The document opens on the branded cover, then runs the sections you included, numbered in your order — 1. Executive Summary, 2. Progress & Schedule, and so on. Sections you switched off are not numbered and do not appear. The footer carries the generation date and your company name.

Questions

If I rename the project, does the cover change?

No. The project's details are copied onto the cover when the report is created. Change them in the branding editor.

Why can't I change the cover on this report?

It has been marked sent, so it's locked. Press Revise to start a new draft, and change the cover there.

What happens to a report's photos if I delete the report?

They're deleted with it, unless a revised draft of that report still uses them.
