Photo Evidence
Require photo evidence to be taken live with the camera — no gallery, no old photos — for inspections, safety, daily logs and RFIs.
A photo picked from a gallery can be days old or taken on another site. When you switch on Photos must be taken live, the photo controls in the modules you tick offer the camera and nothing else, so every photo is taken on the spot. You find it under Admin → Photo Evidence.
The rule is off until you switch it on.
Organization default, project override
| Scope | Role |
|---|---|
| Organization | The default for every project |
| Project | Overrides the organization for this project only |
A project follows the organization until you change a value on its tab. From then on it keeps its own values; Use organization values puts it back in line with the organization.
What the rule covers
Tick the modules the rule applies to. When you switch the rule on, all four start ticked.
| Module | Photos it covers |
|---|---|
| Inspections & issue fixes | Checklist item evidence, issue fix evidence and photos attached to an issue |
| Safety | Walk observations, toolbox talks, incidents, permits and permit documents |
| Daily log | Photos added to a daily log |
| RFIs | Photos on a question, an official response or a clarification |
A module you leave unticked works as before, with the gallery available.
In the phone app
The Construction Hub app opens the camera only. The photo library is not offered, and the sheet says why. A document picked from the phone is still accepted, as long as it is not a photo.
In a browser
A laptop or tablet browser follows Allow laptop and tablet cameras, an organization setting that projects cannot change.
| Allow laptop and tablet cameras | What the browser shows |
|---|---|
| Off (default) | "Take this photo in the Construction Hub app" in place of the photo control |
| On | A camera button that opens the device's own camera, with Take photo, Retake and Use photo |
A browser with no camera shows the app line either way.
Documents still upload
The rule is about photos. PDFs, drawings, spreadsheets and other documents still upload where they did before — permit documents and issue attachments, for example. Picking an image there is refused with "Photos must be taken live here — use the camera instead."
Who can change it
Photo Evidence is in the Admin menu for anyone whose role can update project settings.

Questions
Can a project turn on laptop cameras when the organization has them off?
No. Allow laptop and tablet cameras is set by the organization only. The project tab shows it but cannot change it.
Does the rule change photos already attached?
No. It only changes how new photos are added.
