Daily Logs — Overview

The daily field record — what the register shows, how logs are filtered, and how a log moves from draft to approved.

The Daily Log is the field record of a day on site: who was there, what plant was running, what got built, what held things up, who visited, and what happened on the safety side. Each log belongs to one date on one project, and moves through draft → submitted → approved before it counts as a signed-off record.

The register — one row per day, newest first

What You See

Click Daily Log in the sidebar. The register lists every log on the project, one row per day, newest first (on a phone, one card per day).

My Logs shows everyone's logs

Despite the label, the My Logs tab is not filtered to you — it lists every daily log filed on the project. Use it to check whether a day has already been recorded before you start a new one. The My logs view above the list is the one that narrows to logs you submitted.

Each row carries these columns. Figures that nobody recorded show a dash rather than zero:

ColumnWhat it means
DayThe date the log covers
Work performedThe Work Performed descriptions (or the notes), with a photo count and an incident marker when the Safety section records one
StatusDraft, Submitted, Approved, or Returned for a draft sent back by a reviewer
ShiftDay shift, Night shift or Swing shift
CrewTotal headcount across the manpower rows
ActivitiesWork Performed entries on this log
DelayTotal delay hours recorded

The Two Tabs

TabWhat it holds
My LogsEvery daily log on the project, narrowed by the views, search and filters
Daily ReportsThe approval queue — logs waiting for review, with a count badge

Daily Reports only appears if you hold approval permission and the project requires approval (or logs submitted before approval was turned off are still waiting). If you cannot approve, there are no tabs — you only ever see the register.

Filtering the Register

Above the list sit:

  • A search box — Search logs…
  • The views All, My logs (logs you submitted), Awaiting approval and Approved, each with its count
  • Filter, which holds Status (Draft, Submitted, Approved — tick any) and Day, a From and To date range with Clear dates

One Log per Date

A project holds one daily log per date. If you open New Log on a date that already has one, an amber banner tells you so — go back and open the existing log instead of starting a second. Saving a second log for the same date is refused.

The Shift field (day, night or swing) labels which shift the log describes. It does not split the day into separate logs.

What Each Status Means

StatusBadgeWhat you can do
DraftDraft, or Returned if a reviewer sent it backEdit every section, save, submit, or delete it
SubmittedSubmitted (in the approval queue, with when it was submitted)Read-only. It is waiting for review — or, on a project that does not require approval, final
ApprovedApprovedRead-only and permanent. There is no un-approve

Questions

Can I change the date of a log after I've saved it?

No. You choose the date on New Log, and a saved log can't be moved to another day. If a draft is on the wrong date, delete it (if your role allows) and start a new log on the right one.

Why can't I see New Log?

Your role can't create daily logs, or you're on the Daily Reports tab. Switch to My Logs. Roles are set in Settings → Members & Roles.

Why does one log say Returned?

A reviewer sent it back with a note. It's a draft again: open it to read the note at the top, make the changes and submit it again. In the Filter menu it counts as Draft.
